Lokale tips

• The Caves Bay and Semizce Bay are not registered in geographic databases; only verified stops are marked on the map.
• Delik Island, should not be confused with other islands of the same name along the Turkish coast; this island is located along the Köyceğiz-Ortaca coast.
• Speed limit in the channel and lake is 5 knots; speedboats and unregistered boats are prohibited. Feeding sea turtles from the boat, mooring in reed beds, and embarking/disembarking passengers outside of piers are also prohibited (Muğla Governorate Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Channel Administration).
• IZTUZU: Beach is closed to the public from 20:00 to 08:00 between May 1 and October 31. No fires, tents, vehicles, or animals are allowed; umbrellas and sun loungers cannot be placed in designated nesting areas. The fine for violation is 699,245 TL, three times that for legal entities.
• The region is the Köyceğiz-Dalyan Special Environmental Protection Area (July 1988). The channel is the habitat of the endangered Nile softshell turtle (Trionyx triunguis).
