Overzicht
Gölyazı is a historic fishing village built on a small peninsula on the northern shore of Lake Uluabat. The fishing boats waiting at the village shore offer short lake tours around the peninsula and nearby islets; the boat is rented per group. During the tour, the captains tell the history of the village and the islands in the lake; it is noted that Kız Island, where the ruins of the Temple of Apollo are located, can only be reached by boat. The water lilies covering the lake surface from May to the end of summer are the most interesting sight; the flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Tours close to sunset are preferred for photography.
