Boat tours in Adıyaman leave from Baraj Park on the shore of the Atatürk Dam reservoir in the district of Samsat. The old centre of Samsat was flooded by the reservoir in 1998, and the municipality's 45-seat excursion boat passes over the site while the area's history is told. Scheduled trips run at weekends in summer and take in the lake's coves and Martı Island, where gulls nest. Baraj Park also offers motorboat hire and pedal boats. Samsat is 48 km from central Adıyaman and 32 km from Kahta.
