Boat tours in Diyarbakır run on the Tigris (Dicle) Dam reservoir at Eğil, about 52 km from the city centre. Short lake trips leave from a pier at the foot of the rock on which Eğil Castle stands, giving views of the castle walls, the Assyrian royal tombs cut into the rock and the hillside with the prophets' tombs. Fossil-fuel boats have been banned on the reservoir since 1 April 2022, so tours use 12-passenger solar-powered electric boats that entered service in 2024. Tea gardens and restaurants line the shore near the pier. Tours run from April to October.
