Cancún en bref
Cancún is at the northern end of the Mexican Caribbean. Catamarans cross to Isla Mujeres and anchor off the island's west coast, where the statues of the MUSA underwater museum are seen by snorkelling in shallow water. Isla Contoy to the north is a bird island and reserve with a daily visitor cap. From June to September, trips run to swim with whale sharks off Isla Mujeres. To the south, the reef at Puerto Morelos is a national park. Hurricane season runs June to November.
