Denarau & Mamanuca en bref
The Mamanuca Islands are a group of volcanic and coral islands off Nadi, west of Viti Levu, and Port Denarau marina is the gateway for day trips. The most visited is uninhabited Monuriki, where the 2000 film Cast Away was shot; Yanuya village are its custodians and it is one of three islands where the endangered Fiji crested iguana survives. Trips combine snorkelling, an island stop and lunch, with Mana, Malolo and the nearby sandbars as other stops. Sunset sailings in Nadi Bay are also common. November to April is cyclone season.
