About this tour
A shikara is a small covered pleasure boat that can enter narrow canals houseboats cannot. The boat leaves Punnamada, crosses Punnamada Lake and enters the canals around Kainakary and Pallathuruthy, passing close to canal-side homes, churches, paddy fields and fishermen. A short stop allows a walk in a canal-side village. The ride takes 2–3 hours and is best in the morning or late afternoon.
