Providenciales about
Providenciales is the tourism island of Turks and Caicos; boats leave from Leeward on the east end and from marinas on the south coast. Little Water Cay (Iguana Island) is a sanctuary for the Turks and Caicos rock iguana; it is run by the Turks and Caicos National Trust, visitors keep to the marked boardwalks and a separate admission is charged. Half Moon Bay beside it is the shallow beach between Little Water Cay and Water Cay. The freighter La Famille Express, stranded during Hurricane Frances in 2004, sits in the shallows of the Caicos Bank. Fort George Cay and Dellis Cay to the north are known for shell beaches.
