Tonlé Sap (Siem Reap) about

Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and lies south of Siem Reap; the product is a lake and river trip, not a sea trip. In the rainy season the Mekong backs up the Tonlé Sap River and the lake grows several times over, which is why villages stand on 6–9 metre stilts or float. The best-known boat trips are the stilt houses and flooded forest of Kampong Phluk, the floating village of Chong Kneas and the Prek Toal bird sanctuary, a core area of the UNESCO biosphere reserve. Water level shapes the route: in the dry season channels narrow and some departure points change. Boat tickets are usually sold separately at the landing.
