Local notes

• SUNKEN CITY RESTRICTIONS: The Kekova Sunken City area is a first-degree archaeological and natural site. Swimming, diving, and snorkeling are prohibited; anchoring near the ruins is forbidden; boats must sail slowly. The area is monitored by the Coast Guard.
• EXCEPTION: Two official swimming areas have been designated right in front of Kaleköy, where boats cannot pass, and these are outside the Sunk City area.
• The entire route is within the Kaş-Kekova Special Environmental Protection Area, which was declared in 1990 and covers 257.83 km². The area is home to posidonia sea grass; care must be taken to avoid damaging it.
• CARETTA CARETTA: Demre Beach is one of Turkey's 21 official nesting beaches. From May 1 to September 30, entry, fire, tents, and vehicle access to the beach are prohibited between 20:00 and 08:00. This restriction applies to the beach only and does not affect the tour; evening tours should not include disembarking at the beach.
• Admission fees are covered by the Museum Pass for Turkish citizens (Simena Castle, Myra, Andriake).
• Demre Kekova tour sold as 'Demre Kekova tour' mostly refers to a cultural tour by bus from Antalya/Kemer/Kalkan — it lasts 12-14 hours but only 1-2 hours are spent at sea. A pure boat tour meets at the marina and all 7 hours are spent at sea.
• The schedule shows a typical flow; departure varies between 10:00-10:30 depending on the operator.
