Overview
The boat leaves the Itabaca Channel and reaches Bartolomé, east of Santiago, in about two hours. After a dry landing, a trail with wooden stairs climbs to the summit, with views of Pinnacle Rock, the two sandy bays and Sombrero Chino islet opposite. Then comes a wet landing on the bay beach and snorkelling around Pinnacle Rock, where Galápagos penguins may be seen. It is a long day, with about four hours of boat travel in total. The visit is led by an authorised naturalist guide.
