Overview
Gölyazı is a historic fishing village built on a small peninsula on the northern shore of Lake Uluabat. Fishing boats waiting along the village shore take visitors on short lake trips around the peninsula and among the nearby islets; boats are hired per group. The boatmen talk about the village's past and the islands in the lake, and Kız Adası, with the remains of a temple of Apollo, can only be reached by boat. From May to late summer water lilies cover parts of the lake; the flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Trips near sunset are popular with photographers.
