From Cat Ba island the boat heads into the quieter Lan Ha bay south of Ha Long: floating fishing villages, kayaking into the lagoon of the Dark and Bright cave and a swim on an empty beach. Lunch is served on board. There are far fewer boats than in Ha Long's main channel.
