Overview
A short boat trip in Şahinkaya Canyon, about 17 km north-west of Vezirköprü, where the Altınkaya Dam reservoir fills a gorge of the Kızılırmak. Boats leave the pier at the canyon's edge hourly or whenever full, and the round trip takes 45 to 60 minutes. The route runs between sheer rock walls rising hundreds of metres to the narrowest part of the canyon and back. Besides the municipal Samsunum-3 boat, private operators also run trips, including sunset departures and private hire. Life jackets are mandatory and swimming is forbidden for safety reasons.
