Overview
From Siem Reap a road transfer of about an hour leads to the Kampong Phluk boat landing. A motorboat runs down the river into the village between houses on 6–9 metre stilts; in the rainy season small rowing boats paddled by villagers enter the flooded forest. The boat then goes out to the open water of Tonlé Sap Lake, and afternoon trips watch the sunset over the lake. Late in the dry season (roughly March–June) the water is at its lowest, the stilts stand in mud and the forest canoe ride may not be possible.
