Overview
The archipelago boat leaves Strömkajen in front of the Grand Hôtel and passes the straits between Lidingö and Värmdö to reach Vaxholm in about an hour. Vaxholm is a small town of wooden houses and a harbour, regarded as the hub of the inner archipelago. Vaxholm Fortress stands on an islet opposite the harbour and is reached by a short ferry; it houses a museum. After free time in town you return to Stockholm on the same line. Some sailings run all year, with more departures in summer.
