Overview
Humpback whales come to the waters around the Kerama Islands in winter to calve and breed. Boats leave Zamami Port; spotters on hills such as Inazaki find the whales from land and guide the boats by radio. Approach distance and speed are limited under the rules of the village's whale-watching association. The trip takes about 2 hours, and it can be joined as a day trip from Naha by ferry.
