Overview
Shikara, a small covered sightseeing boat, can navigate narrow canals where houseboats cannot go. The boat departs from Punnamada, crossing Punnamada Lake and entering the canals around Kainakary and Pallathuruthy; you will see houses, churches, rice fields, and fishermen along the canal banks up close. There is a short stop to walk around a village by the canal. The tour lasts 2–3 hours; it is recommended to do it in the morning or late afternoon.
